WE HAVE ANSWERS.
Yes, especially if it's mechanical pain/software issue .
No, if it's a Hardware issue. (Rods, pins, plates, screws)
Short answer...anyone with a spine.
Long answer...I have athletes using this method for recovery, warm up and cool down. I have clients over 50 using it to improve balance, mobility and posture. I also have many students who use this as their daily BODY-MIND meditation to regulate their Nervous System.
Even those with Mechanical Back Pain are having success using this method.
This progression of multiplanar movements/explorations are designed to activate your nervous system to improve muscle tone, reflexes and balance. These are all things that degrade as we age and therefore require daily tuning.
The word soma means “the body as perceived from within.”
Somatic movement helps people get in tune with their body, release built-up emotions, let go of trauma, and manage mental health.
Somatic movement is slow, exploratory , curious and often done with eyes closed.
Focusing on the internal experience and process of your movement rather than the end result can be a challenge for a lot of people at first. We’re accustomed to having prescriptions, like doing certain movements a certain number of times so that we can achieve a certain goal. But that doesn’t allow us to discover the patterns of tension that are deeply learned in our nervous system, and it doesn’t allow us to develop new, healthy patterns of movement. Practicing somatic movement is very different than doing sit-ups or pushups; it’s not about the quantity or intensity, it’s about the quality of exploration and conscious attention.
